Enchanted Sword

The finale of the Enchanted Kingdom series is here! Seven books. Four different characters. And over 888,000 words.
We’ve been with Jorah. We went with Keir on an adventure. We were plopped in Owen’s wild mind for a book. And we are finishing up with Alani, years later, all grown up.

I published the first book of this series on 10-10 of 2022. I published the last 10-10 of 2026. It’s a full circle moment! And yet before I could truly celebrate at all, I got word that my feisty and beloved grandmother had passed away. Instead of launch day celebrations with friends, grief hit like a ton of bricks. Thankfully all my final files were already turned in for the book to come out on time. But I was supposed to visit her in two weeks. And now she’s gone. (Apologies this blog post is a few days late too!)
Every time I get asked what it feels like to finish such a huge project, the easy answer is: I don’t know. The real answer? I just miss Gram and don’t know how to celebrate when my heart feels twisted beyond repair. But this series, from the first book to now, has taught me how very close sorrows and joys tuck in together.
My gram is part of the reason I am a writer today. She let me read her massive Victoria Holt gothic romance collection and pretended she didn’t notice me stealing two books at a time all summer long when I was too young to read them. Between watching trashy soap operas with her and debriefing on the plots and the books she let me borrow, she had me thinking in terms of plots from a young age. I’m named after my two grandmothers, so I get to carry her with me on my name, in my heart, and right between my shoulder blades on my spine too. Thank you, Gram, for it all! Every lesson. Every Abba dance party. All the laughs.
So much life happened between writing the pages of the 880,000 words of this series. It’s been an honor to bring them all to you. Have your favorite drink of choice, made perfectly and just right, and let’s find a way to celebrate anyway. Even in the dark. From between the cracks of our broken hearts. This life won’t stop for our joy or our grief, so we might as well carry both with us defiantly.
As for what’s next from me, well, first I am taking a week off. I am still writing Revenant Academy 3 and will continue working on that until I get the second book back from my editor. Next year you should get Revenant 2 and 3 as we finish up that series! And then… well, there’s a duology I was warned not to speak about because of its uniqueness. I’ve been very tight lipped about it, but the first book is done with just one more to go.
The audiobook of Enchanted Throne will also be coming out in a few weeks.
Thank you all for the love and support you’ve shown me and this series. A friendly reminder that honest reviews are very helpful to us authors! I had wanted to write a profound sign off to the Enchanted Kingdom series, but this is all I have for now. It is bittersweet for sure!
How about tomorrow? You. Me. A celebratory drink. Play your favorite Abba song in honor of my Gram. Let’s find a way to celebrate this massive series being done! Defiant joy. ♥️
